The book of Proverbs tells us that to find wisdom is better than finding silver or gold but no one ever stumbles into a life marked by wisdom it has to be sought after and pursued. In 2 Chronicles 1, Solomon asks God for wisdom and in his request he sets a great example for us of what it means to pursue wisdom in our own lives. Not everyone can become famous, wealthy or well educated but God’s promise is that anyone who truly seeks wisdom can become wise.

Pain and suffering cause problems for everyone but especially for people who believe in God. “Why him…why her…why me…why now…why this,” are questions we all ask. Job teaches us that even though we have typical answers, God atypical when it comes to life’s most painful moments. What we mostly need is proof from God instead of answer from him.

Nehemiah led the people to re-build the walls around in Jerusalem in only 52 days but that was only the beginning of his vision. Nehemiah hoped that if the walls could be re-built, the people would be reminded of God’s goodness and they would worship Him. Out of that worship would come a contagious joy that would make a difference in the world.
